This version fixes installation issues (ICU DLL on some Windows).

It also reverts the radar attitude applied to the radar detection. This new feature made the AWACS cone affected by the plane pitch/bank and could cause contact loss. It adds more realism but I got a lot of negative feedback on that, so I reverted it.

It will be reintroduced in 2.7 with the large radar update but with an option in the profile to enable/disable it. It will allow everyone to choose their level of realism!

Versioning

The 2.6.1-2 is compatible with 2.3.x branch or later

I have changed the rule for maintenance versions. With recent developments, I have a more stable network protocol. Starting with the 2.3, all minor version changes (2.3, 2.4, 2.5, …) will be compatible with each other.

What’s next ?

The next version, the 2.7.0, is planned in March with the results of months of engine rework and will bring some important updates on the radar simulator:

  • RCS variation depending on the unit aspect
  • advanced Doppler effect settings (will be good for WW2 profiles)
  • major speed improvements for large missions (CPU time divided by 50 to 80 times)!

Once the 2.7.0 is out, LotAtc 2.x branch will be in maintenance, the work will focus on LotAtc 3.0 and the major rework of the app!

2026 is another year for LotAtc. I started this project 20 years ago! I am so proud to say that LotAtc is now a reference for GCI simulators, used not only by the DCS community but also to train numerous armies in France, Europe, the Middle East, South America, and Asia. 🌍

This year, 2026 will see the release of LotAtc 3.0 with a new map engine, new terrain engine, UI rework, network protocol update and many new features. I have been working hard on it, and even though I am running late (due to a heavy workload on the professional side), it is not far off! 🚀

In the meantime, I have released version 2.6.0. This version improves stability and adds enhancements, including support for DCS FARP.

However, you can tell DCS to active these APIs and allow LotAtc to work as before.

To do so, just edit or create the Saved Games\<your DCS instance>\Config\autoexec.cfg with the following content:

-- Copy or add in the Saved Games/<your DCS>/Config/ directory

It includes visual terrain (relief). Detailled airports are available for main terrain.

To install it, no need of reinstall, just follow this process:

  1. Launch C:\Program Files\LotAtc\lotatc_updater.exe (default install path)
  2. Check Add/remove components
  3. Select at least Visual and Relief for GermanyCW maps you want to use
  4. Continue process with next, it will install everything
  5. Restart LotAtc Client

Same process on server side, except that you have no need to select visual (only Relief) to have correct terrain masking.

I have also update the Papi charts on Syria, thanks to him for his work!

LotAtc is a military air traffic control simulation software that I first started programming in my spare time back in 2006 for public use (as an add-on to the DCS World simulator, which I’ve been flying virtually ever since).

On June 9, 2020, I took the leap and made it my full-time job, aiming to expand its professional applications…

It began with the French Navy, followed by the French Air and Space Force. LotAtc has since become a key tool in the training of air defense controllers within the French Armed Forces—particularly at the CICDA, which has been equipped with it since last year.

At the same time, DCI Group placed their trust in me to develop a customized version of the software to support training courses for NATO and European countries. For over four years now, these sessions have taken place either on-site at DCI’s facilities or remotely from client locations, thanks to LotAtc’s technology. It has offered a new, simple way to maintain operational readiness.

Today, LotAtc is a recognized professional tool. It still retains its public version, used by more than 6,500 users around the world, including a wide community of military and civilian aviation enthusiasts. It’s this balance between professional feedback and the contributions of public users that has allowed me to shape, over the years, a tool that is simple, scalable, powerful, and rooted in realism.

What’s next? Many projects are underway—some already well advanced: a new advanced mapping engine, DIS protocol support, ATC features, approach procedures, data links, and more… My goal: to continue delivering software tailored to my clients’ needs and to grow alongside them.
